Hello! My name is Nancy and I am a yoga therapist, poet, and multimedia artist living in Sonoma County, California. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan and my life experiences have led me from Asia to the Carribeans, to Northern California where I now live with my adorable husband and three chickens.
ON PAINTING & POTTERY: I remember receiving my first set of color markers and taking my first drawing class around age 5, and since then I’ve had a continual love affair with colors, shapes, and space. I’ve painted in watercolor, guache, acrylics and oils and I love each one. I have received inspiration from the life and works of Georgia O’Keefe, Frida Kahlo, and many classic artists from the Impressionist era. Around 2014 I was inspired by the tableware designs of Edith Heath and began my studies in pottery. I love the meditative quality of throwing pots and the dance between stillness and movement, shape and space. I am inspired by pure forms that elicit a sense of simplicity and elegance. And there’s nothing quite like enjoying a meal held in a handmade vessel. It delights me to know others take joy in using my pottery in their daily lives.
ON POETRY: I fell in love with poetry in second grade… the way poetry played with words, ideas, rhythms and meaning, somehow imprinted deeply into my 8 year-old-heart. I credit my beloved Mrs. Fuess who gave us the assignment to learn poems by heart. Nowadays, I write when inspired, when waking up from a dream, when processing the impossible, or when an idea light as a feather finds me at the end of a yummy meditation.
